Great Books for Nutritional Guidance
There is so much information out there on nutrition and how we should be eating. It can be very confusing if you listen to all the different opinions. You know that my philosophy about nutrition is to stay as close to eating natures foods as possible.
As I have said over and over, our diets should consist mostly of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and lean proteins. If you were to have a diet that consisted predominantly of those things, you would be healthier for it.
So today I wanted to recommend some of the books that can help you to understand and learn what you should be eating, and why.
Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen are two men who have authored several books about how we can care for ourselves. All of these books are insightful, easy to read, and full of information to help you help yourself.
"You The Owners Manual", "You ON A Diet", and "You Staying Young", are all great reads. These guys get down to the basics of how you can be healthy, slow down the aging, and feel your best. Be ready to hear the truth about how you should be eating and taking care of yourself. They are blunt and honest, and seriously right!
Another of my favorite nutrition books is one I have also talked about, but it is so worth mentioning again. It is the "Food Rules" by Michael Pollan. This book is small, to the point, and simple to read. Mr. Pollan makes statements that are so great such as, "The whiter the bread, the sooner you are dead". Or, "If it came from a plant, eat it. If it was made in a plant, don't". I love those!
I also like the series of books by David Zinczenco called, "Eat This, Not That", and "Cook This, Not That". Zinczenco came up with a brilliant idea with this series. He gives you information about fat, where it comes from, and how much of it is in our foods. Zinczenco gives you comparisons of foods so that you can make healthier choices. The public is simply unaware of the amounts of fats, sugars, and calories that lurk in our food.
With the knowledge you will get from these books, you will be armed with all of the information you need to choose a healthier way of eating. Not only will you know what to do, you will know why. It is not rocket science, it is common sense. Nature is always better at what she does, and it is no different with food.
Till Tomorrow,
Queenie
