Enjoying Your Spring Break

I am pretty amazed that Easter is in two days...how did it get here so fast? Time is zooming along whether we like it or not. Many of you are on spring break and about to have a week off to enjoy the Easter holiday. What can you do to make it a "healthy" time for yourself?

One of the things that you can do is choose to exercise every day, now that you do not have to be on a school schedule. Begin your morning with a morning stretch. (see morning stretch blog). It only takes a few minutes, but will wake your body up and get it ready to move.

Follow that up with a morning meditation in which you meditate on gratitude and the good things you would like to happen for you during your day. Focus on the positive no matter what seems to be going on in your life.

Now you are ready for a healthy breakfast. Eggs, oatmeal, fruit, whole grain bread, and yogurt are healthy choices to start your day with. Green tea, lemon water, and real fruit juice, are good compliments to a nutritional breakfast.

Choose exercise that will also uplift you, like a run on the beach, or a hike in the mountains. Ask a friend to join you and have supportive, positive conversation and stay away from talking about all the things that are negative and drain you of the positive of the positive energy that your are focusing on.

When it is lunch time, choose healthy. A salad with fresh vegies, hard boiled eggs, or chicken on it would be very satisfying and nutritious. A glass of soda water with real lemonade added to it will be a sweet treat along with your healthy salad.

Make sure your time is spent doing things that are uplifting and productive. If you have to work during your vacation, develop an attitude of doing your best (see Four Agreements blog) so that you can feel good about the day, even though you had to work.

Do not sit around being negative, non-productive, and a victim of your circumstance. Be pro-active in shifting your consciousness to a higher place.

When dinner comes around, choose the healthy foods. If you are not in control of what is being served, ask whoever is to include a fresh vegetable and lean protein. The whole family could benefit from your healthy choices. You can have a positive impact on them too!

When you are ready to go to bed, include an evening stretch and meditation. Now you will have completed a day full of positive, healthy, choices and you should have a feeling of accomplishment for it. Your body, mind, and soul will be happy for your efforts.

So have a wonderful spring vacation. Choose to make it a positive, healthy, experience. Watch the chocolate bunnies, and jelly beans....they are yummy treats, but can sabotage your health week if you eat too many! Moderation, moderation, moderation!

Till Monday,
Queenie
