Going to the Movies?

When you go to the movies, do you stop at the snack bar before heading into the theater? You might order a popcorn, soda, and candy snack for your movie viewing thinking you are just having a little snack.

Think again! Your average movie popcorn has as much fat and calories as three Big Mac's from Mc Donald's. They range from 800 calories for a small to 1,600 calories for a large. One of these popcorn snacks can give your body up to 100 grams of fat in one serving....YIKES!!! Heart attack food cleverly disguised as a yummy snack.

If you add a box of movie candy to it you will add another bunch of non-nutritious calories to your seemingly innocent treat. Peanut M&M's have 790 calories and 40 grams of fat. Starburst candy has 480 calories and 11 grams of fat, and the majority of the ingredients is white sugar.

Twizzlers has 570 calories, Skittles has 765 calories, Dots has 850 calories, and the big winner of the candy calories is.....Reese's Pieces coming in at a whopping 1,160 calories and 60 grams of fat.

Of course you probably want to wash all of this fabulous non-nutritious snack down with a soda to really treat yourself. Now you will slug down approximately 16 teaspoons of sugar, artificial flavorings and colorings, and 150 to 200 more non-nutritious calories!

Let's add up your movie treat. A large popcorn with butter; 1,600 calories 100 grams of fat.....(we'll go for the gusto) Reese's Pieces 1,600 calories 60 grams of fat.....and a large soda at 200 calories. Hmmmmm, scary total kids....3,400 calories (almost two days worth of calories) 160 grams of fat (more than two days worth) and enough sugar to put you on the list to be a possible diabetic!

Oh yeah, this is just your snack. It does not include what other foods you will eat in that day. These are the kind of things that will sabotage your "healthy eating" program. Most of us are unaware of the horror that is lurking in these movie snacks.

I suggest that when you go to the movies, bring your own treats. Smaller portions, less chemicals, less calories, and less fat, is a better choice for the future health of your body.

I am not even going to go into the amount of chemicals that are in these foods....It is way too frightening!

Sorry to have to tell you about these movie snacks, but it is always better to know the truth when it comes to your body's health and well being. Movie foods are BAD for Your Health!! Best to stay clear of them all together!

Till Tomorrow,
Queenie
